Help With Modding Quake Empty

Information on modding Quake (also known as Quake 1) is so scarce. It is very hard to figure out what's what. Thanks to the fine gentlemen at QuakeOne forums, I know how to make maps, kind of. Does anyone on the forums have experience with modeling for Quake or any game, actually? I have 3DS Max and a weapon model made. I don't have or know how to assign meshes and bones, if necessary. I could really use some help if anyone has knowledge of this kind of stuff.

The reason I'm modding Quake, if you are wondering, is so I can port it to my Wii and NDS. I have Quake on both, and getting it over is ridiculously simple (I have done it before with mods I didn't make). I've had the idea for a while to make a Half Life mod for Quake for the sole purpose of getting it to console. I already have a few maps, tested in Quake on the PC, DS, and Wii. I just need to make weapons and NPC's. Does anyone know how?
