I think the Space joke is more popular then that Cake is a Lie joke from the first one. Most likely because Portal has a larger audience now.

Not really. The Cake is a Lie had people spouting it because it was "LOLSORANDOM" even though they didn't know the context. I'm not really getting that feel this time, thank God.

True. I know a lot of people who never touched Portal who used that joke all the time. It was so overused I got tired of it. The Space one seems more appropriately used though.

Yeah... sadly the "Smooth Jazz will be deployed" joke wasn't that big of a hit.

Anyways, my thoughts on Portal 2:
Amazing game? Yes.
Game of the Year? Not even close.

The thing is (and I know Yahtzee touched upon this in his Portal 2 review) nobody expected Portal 1 to be... well, any good. Sure, it was being published by Valve, but the developers (the studio that made Narbacular Drop) were pretty much doing their own thing while the rest of Valve was working on Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Team Fortress 2. All we knew is that it was going to be a first-person puzzle game. When we finally got our hands on it, we found out that it was pretty good. The game was full of surprises, from the very beginning to Still Alive.

Portal 2 had to meet incredibly high expectations set by Portal 1. That, and the game was being marketed towards a broader audience. So, with most of Valve working on Portal 2 (and Robin's team still working on hats), they had to fix anything that was wrong with Portal 1. Luckily, that wasn't much at all: longer single-player, a multiplayer mode, and no stupid cake jokes (except for that door).

And that's what it comes down to: it's more Portal. Keep in mind, not a bad thing, but there wasn't anything "groundbreaking" about it. Portal 2's co-op is fun, but lacks replay value. Portal 2's main story is fun, but aside from a few new contraptions, characters, and incredible environments, it's the same. Again, that's not bad at all: I love Portal 2, and think it's quite an improvement over Portal 1, but just not Game of the Year material. Besides, we have plenty of more games to be released until the end of the year before we can judge that.

I am glad that it's finally out, though. Now there's nothing that can/should stop the development of the next Half-Life title.

Agreed with most of that. Also, this video:

That would've been funnier if it looped for 24 days.

I honestly think it is deservant of game of the year, if not just to let SOMETHING outshine COD for once. Batman Serious (you have no idea how many COD fanboys around here won't even give Portal 2 a GLANCE)

YES A PORTAL 2 THREAD

If you ask anyone, they will tell you my obsession with that game. Haven't played yet, since i don't have the money, but as soon as i get it..

I thought the voice acting was amazing in it, much more characterization than Portal 1 had. It was also about twenty times harder Batman Dizzy

But yeah. Not going to mention space.

I was reading Cookies' post and was like "Wow no spa-" and then saw the last line. She seriously can't talk about Portal 2 without mentioning space.

Not when I am multi-tasking trying to post, fix the board, and fix your essay's grammar at the same time. Cut me a break!

Some day Portal 2 will be a shining example of video game art! I mean, it's hard for me to argue seriously that video games are art while Call of Duty: Black Ops is so popular.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2486-Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops

Seriously, if games were movies Portal would be 2001: A Space Odyssey and COD would be Battlefield Earth. We really don't need yet another stupid war game!

Now that I'm done RAEGing at COD....

Portal 2 was great!

EDIT: First on a NEW PAGE! WOOHOO!
Also, to be fair, COD probably isn't as bad as Battlefield earth....

Portal 2 Batman Love

It was so amazing! I haven't actually played it yet (mostly because my current PC sucks) but I've watched some playthroughs online.

All I can say is that it improved pretty much everything that was wrong with Portal 1 and made it 10x more awesome. I've actually managed to get some of my friends away from COD long enough to show them this game. So basically, I managed to do the impossible. XD

But anyway, I was so happy to see that Portal humour again. It was actually one of the main things that I loved about the first game, that and the art and the physics and the....whole game, I suppose.

tl;dr, Portal 2 was indeed amazing.
