So, I love me some old fashioned sword fights.

The 1939 version of The Prisoner of Zenda is fantastic. The Court Jester, an old Danny Kay movie is both hilarious and an amazing swashbuckly movie, and almost all of Errol Flynn's career is all FENCING AND AWESOME.

The new(ish) Count of Monte Cristo movie is great, and so are most of the Three Musketeers movies, and The Princess Bride.

There are a ton of other amazing swashbucklers out there, and, I can't name or think of them all.

But, anyways. Thread for appreciating swordsmanship in films, GO!

On the grand scale of swashbucklers, Pirates is kinda meeeeeh.

There are some good fights each movie. But, most of the time, it's just normal Hollywood choreography.

I think the most recent example of amazing western choreography I can think of is the new(ish) Count of Monte Cristo, which was, from a swordfighter's standpoint, AMAZING.

I haven't really seen any 'true' swashbuckling movies. Pirates of the Caribbean is all I can attest for.

Try some.

The Count of Monte Cristo is a great starting point.

I think I've mentioned that three times in this thread so far XD
